"... by
the Great Gear, Mezzy ... where did they come from?"
Sitting hip deep in the swampgrass, the small gnome warlock tugged
on one of her pigtails.
"I mean, of all the silly things to be doing, poking about that
waterstained temple in this sorrowful because some fellow in Un'Goro
wants to have a pet plant?
"Sometimes Mezzy, I think we gots a too soft heart."
With a shake of her head the little lass smiled.
"And sometimes I just knows it."
She took a deep deep breath and looked back to the ruins, silouetted
in the night, the big full moon rising behind them.
"But there we were ...
"We had just seen this big snakey-thing. That's what we were sent
to investigate. But he was hanging out with his oooooooozy friend.
So I send you in to fetch and we drag him back down to the end of the
hall, so we could take our time and send him to a quick visit to the
spirit plane before he sent us there...
"We thought we were alone! We really really did. When we left
that stretch of corridor there was no one there ...
"I don't know who was more surprised. Me or the horde of ... of
... of ... Horde we backed into!"
Sitting down on a bit of broken temple she began to wring the water
from the hems of her tunic, frowning just a bit.
"Snakey blood stains ... they never ever really come out.
"I really hope they didn't think we drug him back on purpose or
anything. Well we did, kind of, but that was to just get him all alone.
We weren't trying to hurt them and all ...
"I hear there's been enough warring goin' on in Southshore and
Ashenvale. I don't understand that, I thought there was a truce or
somethin'
"But here out all alone in the wilderness, things are different.
"I tried to say I was sorry. I mean I said it, but I got all the
words out befor I realized I was talkin' to a lady troll and not some
paladin from the cathedral.
"I should know better.
"Paladins aren't green."
With a shrug of her shoulders she looked up to the big blue voidwalker.
"Wish I was cloaked in shadows like you. Never have to worry for
washing again.
"But anyways, Mezzy, we did the best we could. Just tagging around
for a while, to help them out for a bit. I know they were Horde and
all, but it was only fair. And yah got to be fair, always, otherwise
it don't mean nothin', does it.
"Not that they needed it much, them being a whole horde of horde,
and they all looked much more skilled then me. We tried, but we just
couldn't keep up and all.
"It's interesting Mezzy ...
"And a bit confusing ...
"That in the middle of forgotten swamp, in the depths of a broken
and flooded stone temple ...
"We and them ...
" ... end up fightin' on the same side." |
