"Mezzy and I, we travel the hills of Lakeshire, the fens of the Wetlands, the golden fields of Westfall. And we travel mostly at night, the evening shadows our our only compainion. And it was deep in the swamps, where we paused, and we all know how sound travels in the night and distances deceiving. The words the night air carried were a lesson, spoke about a campfire, a small red sparkling amidst darkened fields and the waterway's black crystal reflections. A gnoll Mother, it must have been, offerering a fell warning, to her kith and kin ...

When shadows fall o'er Westfall hills,
An' moonlight o'er marshes Black.
The evening brings more than chills,
upon the Gnollish pack.

Harken as our wise ones speak,
Their words a darken'd call.
For missing packmates now we seek,
alone when dusk did fall.

Seeking our clan fires, hungry eyed,
a darkness upon the heath.
And even our strongest cannot hide,
from nightfalls sharpest teeth.

Along Thelsamar's shores, so dark and so deep,
through Wetland marshes where the willows weep,
within bleak foothills tinged with crimson stone,
heartless and cold, the Nelli-beast hunts alone.

Of demon blue she weaves her claws,
her touch your soul she keeps.
Fangs within her powerful jaws,
your blood her harvest she reaps.

Her eyes are fire, her gaze strikes fear,
her steps silent in the night.
An' alone, when she be near,
your dying breath is her delight.

So walk with care my Gnollish kin,
an' ne'er alone when darkness falls.
For the Nelli-beast with deadly grin,
your blood and bones does call.

Along Thelsamar's shores, so dark and so deep,
through Wetland marshes where the willows weep,
from broken stone to bog bound weeds ...

You go to hunt the Nelli-beast ...

... and the Nelli-beast feeds.

If the pattern of the rhyme seems familiar, it is because they are a tribute to "The Mewlips" by J.R.R. Tolkien.
